The John A. Paulson Center packs three theatres, an orchestral rehearsal space, classrooms, study space, lounges, a Commons, various athletics facilities including an underground pool, faculty housing, and a freshman residential college into one superblock building in Greenwich Village.
My Role
My work on this project included:
DD/CD phase design and documentation of South Lobbies (theater, faculty housing, and athletics entries)
MEP, structural, and lighting coordination
Collaboration with partner architect Davis Brody Bond
Computational design of the South Lobby's curved mezzanine railing
Submittal review in Construction Administration
The South Theater Lobby
As the primary theater entry for the Paulson Center, the South Lobby seeks to embody music and drama. The wood fin patterning along the mezzanine's swooped railing is derived from the amplitude of musical bits taken from Audacity and briefly processed in Grasshopper.
